Praise Team Members - Melissa UMC

My name is Tyler Ferguson and I am the Minister of Worship and Music at Melissa UMC in Melissa. Our Praise Team is looking to expand our base and would love to bring in individuals who are interested in playing in a vibrant and growing worship community.

We are about a 45-55 minute drive from Denton and are looking both females and males who are vocalists or play instruments such as drums/percussion, guitars, keyboards, as well as strings such as violin and cello.

We have had great success with students in the past from UNT and pay $75 per Sunday morning, which involves a rehearsal at 8 am followed by worship at 9:30 and 11 am. We set up and tear down every Sunday and are typically out by 12:30-12:45 pm.

Children's Ministry Assistant - First Frisco UMC

Part Time (15 hrs/wk)

The Children’s Ministry Department is dedicated to reach and serve the spiritual needs of the children and families of First Frisco United Methodist Church.

Our staff is committed to:

  • Shepherd God’s children and their families to seek, love and serve Jesus Christ through education, fellowship and missions.
  • Nurture and cultivate life-long disciples for Jesus Christ by equipping them with a strong Biblical foundation.
  • Have a friendly disposition and insure some form of contact is extended to first time visitors.
  • Insure that people are made to feel welcome upon attending this church.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare curriculum for Sunday afternoon programming and shop for the supplies needed.
  • Greet and meet in the Family Life Center (gym) 2 Sundays a month at both hours. Show visiting families to their child’s Sunday school room.
  • Greet and meet and/or facilitate a Children’s Ministry’s table in the Gathering Area (just outside the sanctuary) 2 Sundays a month. Welcome visiting families and walk them to the Family Life Center for children’s Sunday school.
  • Help with the recruitment and training of Sunday school teachers, assistants and greeters.
  • Assist with special ministries and events such as 4th and 5th Grade Lock-In, summer camps (VBS, WinShape, and Art), 3rd Grade Bibles, Frisco Community Parade, Night in Bethlehem and Easter Eggstravaganza.
  • Research or create special events and activities for children when needed.
  • Assist in the communication with children and parents.
  • Be willing to fill in for Sunday school teachers when needed, if a substitute cannot be found.

Youth Ministries Assistant - Flower Mound UMC

Part Time (Approx. 10 hrs/week)

POSITION PURPOSE: To assist the Director of Family Ministries with youth programming for Middle School and High School age youth. The Youth Ministries Assistant shall seek to foster Christian community through building relationships with young people that strengthen their commitment to the church and their faith in Jesus Christ.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with the Director of Family Ministries, Senior Pastor and the Staff/Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Youth Ministries Assistant:

  1. Be present Wednesday afternoon/evenings for Youth Praise Band practice and Youth Bible Study. Assist the Director of Family Ministries in planning for these activities and supervising them. Demonstrate a solid foundation of in-depth biblical training, belief in traditions United Methodist values and interpretations of the Bible.
  2. Be present Sunday morning and evening for Youth Sunday School, Confirmation, and UMYF. Assist the Director of Youth Ministries in planning and implementing these activities.
  3. Go on the annual Youth Mission trip in the summer, and assist the Director of Family Ministries with the planning and execution of that trip.
  4. Assist the Director of Family Ministries with other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
  5. Be an example for the youth of the church by maintaining a professional appearance and behavior and demonstrating the highest moral standards at all times.

Qualifications

  1. Possess a strong commitment to the Christian faith, a basic understanding of United Methodist theology and church history, support and encourage United Methodist tradition
  2. Able to effectively operate office machines and operating systems
  3. Highly organized, self-motivated, able to work under minimal supervision and multi-task
  4. Ability to use online resources to communicate with youth, parents, staff, the church family and others
  5. Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  6. Able to pass a criminal background check.

Custer Road UMC: Custodian

The Custodian at Custer Road United Methodist Church shall be a person of genuine and deepening Christian character, willing to grow as a loyal participant of a ministry team, able to work and communicate well and cultivate trust with other people in a growing congregation.

Purpose: To provide effective maintenance and housekeeping service to all facilities utilizing good stewardship of time, resources and money while sharing in the basic functions of ministry and teamwork allowing Custer Road to fulfill its mission. 

Hours: The Custodian position will be governed by Custer Road UMC’s Human Resource Policy and Procedures, and is a part-time position. This person may work up to 20 hours a week, including Sunday mornings.

Staff Supervision: Reports to Director of Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all maintenance and housekeeping assignments
    • The cleaning of spaces
    • Emptying of trash receptacles
    • Replacement of rest-room paper products
    • Sweeping, mopping and dusting
    • Stripping and re-waxing floors
    • Sweeping walks and parking areas
    • Carpet cleaning
    • Replacing light bulbs
    • Cleaning windows
  • Maintaining equipment used
  • Maintaining orderliness and safety of all storage areas
  • Performing setups of rooms
  • Other duties as assigned

Cross Way UMC: Worship Leader

Cross Way UMC is a 7-year-old church located in the rapidly growing area along Highway 380 north of Frisco. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead music at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday worship services and various special services throughout the year (Christmas Eve, Easter, Ash Wednesday, etc.)

Vista Ridge UMC: Nursery Supervisor

This position is accountable for supervising caregivers and ensuring that the nursery is a place where babies and toddlers are warmly received and cared for in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

Available Sunday mornings, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (possibly longer, if needed)

  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, supports, schedules and evaluates paid/volunteer caregivers

  • Schedules child care for all church events and activities

  • Approves paid caregivers’ time sheets and secures information for background checks

  • Communicates on a regular basis with paid/volunteer caregivers, Children’s Minister and Children’s Council

  • Upholds policies and procedures to provide a loving, safe and healthy environment for all children and caregivers.

First Rowlett United Methodist Church is seeking a full-time Director for the Wesleyan Christian Academy preschool (WCA). WCA provides children, ages 6 weeks through kindergarten, a safe, nurturing, Christian environment where they can grow and develop spiritually, physically, academically, socially and emotionally. WCA’s program fosters early childhood education through developmentally appropriate practices and fundamental learning experiences.

We are searching for a Director that can develop, implement and maintain a quality learning environment. The WCA Director is responsible for overseeing school operations including personnel management, financial management, scheduling, assessments, staff development, supervision of instruction, and ensuring compliance with state licensing standards.

Strong, effective communication skills are required for both internal and external communication needs. The Director must have the skills to foster a sense of community that includes connections between children, parents, staff and the church.

Requirements

  • Hands-on teaching experience
  • CPR and First-Aid Certified
  • Previous management experience required, preferably in an early education environment
  • CDA, Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or other related degree
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national and state education standards, licensing requirements and procedures, and fire and health regulations
